This WHOIS service was set up for my own purposes. This site uses public information freely available from numerous sources. This site contains no confidential information. However, in the interest of
maintaining the illusion of privacy for domain name owners who are unaware that their WHOIS information is public I do make reasonable attempts to obfuscate e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.
Combined with my wordswarm page, I use this WHOIS to find random web sites that I might otherwise never encounter. I have begun a list on these pages of
interesting sites found this way. That list is short. The unfortunate reality of looking for web sites this way is that the web is occupied by millions of keyword-happy linkfarms: web sites
vacant of any substance or meaning.
This site
uses a variety of techniques in an attempt to make all Top Level Domains searchable through one interface. It will never be 100% successful, and sometimes these pages
will produce
confusing and even unreadable
results. Many countries and Top Level Domain administrators have no publicly available WHOIS
database or domain name information services in any form.
This is a work in progress, so have fun.
smicker.com: A nice low-key site of random pictures Octoroon.com: A full domain-named web site committed to one obsolete word Hellbender Film Projekt: Cool stuff and links to more cool stuff The Socinian: Thoughtful writing from "UUs" dross.com: Dedicated to the art of Dross starveling.com: I love finding sites like this. It appears to be a single splash page, but digging deeper reveals lots of interesting stuff. Joba.com: Electric Windows saccade.com: Miscellaneous projects smog.net: Can't remember how I found this but I am glad I did aphotoaday.com: Pictures from San Francisco transcend.com: If you don't know, you don't know. janx.org: On, or Off?
